Military spouses play a vital role in supporting our nation’s military and they are often underappreciated for the sacrifices that they make. From enduring frequent moves and prolonged separations from their spouse in service, military spouses face unique challenges in both their professional and personal lives.

And, if their spouse becomes wounded, ill or injured in service, spouses often find themselves suddenly in the role of caregiver. Today on #MilitarySpouseAppreciationDay, DAV wants to shine a light on this community and offer our gratitude and support. Show a military spouse some love by tagging them in the comments!

May is #MentalHealthAwarenssMonth and DAV wants to shine a spotlight on the many veterans who suffer silently every day. Not all wounds that a veteran receives from service are visible, and while the VA has treatment options available, they are often underutilized or many veterans fall through the cracks. This month, DAV encourages you to prioritize your own mental health while also checking in with your battle buddies who might be silently fighting their own internal battles.

Remember that if you or somebody that you know is having a mental health crisis, you can contact the Veterans Crisis Line by dialing 988, then press 1, or chat online at veteranscrisisline.net/.
