Member Advantages honor sacrifices, fuel DAV’s mission

Missed out on sending the perfect Valentine’s Day gift? Looking to send a bouquet to mom for Mother’s Day? Be sure to reap the benefits of your DAV membership to secure the best deals—all while helping direct funds back to critical veterans programs.

DAV’s Member Advantage program does more than just help members save on big ticket items like vehicles and electronics. Members can rack up savings on popular gift sites as well—all while helping put funds back into DAV.

“The DAV Member Advantage program allows us to partner with corporations who give our members discounts,” said National Membership Director Douglas K. Wells. “When a member makes a purchase or uses a service, a portion of that sale reverts back to DAV to help fund our service programs such as the Transportation Network.”

One of those services is 1-800-Flowers.com. This site can almost be one-stop shopping for DAV members. With family and friends nearby or across the country, this service allows members to send flowers for any occasion—like holidays, birthdays, graduations or just to say “thinking of you.” And if you’re looking for something beyond blooms, 1-800-Flowers is also the parent company for several online 10 other gift sites such as Cheryl’s Cookies and the Popcorn Factory.

There are also gourmet gifts of steaks, wine, cheese—even fruit-of-month clubs.

“A lot of the services that stand out to members are for life events like moving across country or purchasing a new Ford,” said Wells. “But there a lot of services members could be using more often.”

Use of advantages is not a one-time discount. Members can shop and save any time—and that helps support DAV and the many no-cost programs and services that benefit the nation’s veterans throughout the year.
