September is National Suicide Prevention Month. It’s a time to recommit ourselves to reaching out, listening and staying connected. The latest VA reports released in February 2026 indicate that an average of 17.5 U.S. veterans die by suicide each day.

For veterans who may be struggling, you don’t have to face difficult moments alone. Whether it’s checking in with a fellow veteran, talking with someone you trust, or seeking professional support, asking for help is a sign of strength.

DAV is committed to helping veterans access the mental health resources and support they need. Learn more about how DAV is working to combat veteran suicide: www.dav.org/learn-more/news/2024/combating-veteran-suicide-can-start-with-mentorship/
