ERLANGER, Ky.—DAV (Disabled American Veterans) will hold its annual national convention at the Phoenix Convention Center, Aug. 3–6. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Denis McDonough, head of the nation’s second-largest federal department, will deliver an address, focusing on the VA’s priorities, to an audience of thousands of ill and injured veterans, their families and supporters.
“DAV remains committed and solely focused on the needs of America’s wartime wounded and their families, and we look forward to hearing from Secretary McDonough about the VA’s priorities and vision for our nation’s veterans,” said DAV National Adjutant and CEO Barry Jesinoski. “There’s no shortage of issues affecting our community, and the business we conduct in Phoenix will have far-reaching impacts on health care, employment and other earned veterans benefits for our more than 1 million members and the more than 5 million disabled veterans nationwide.”
Other convention proceedings will include DAV members voting on hundreds of resolutions that will directly influence advocacy efforts, numerous presentations to veterans’ supporters, and the election of DAV’s new national commander and other leadership positions.

About DAV
DAV empowers veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity. It is dedicated to a single purpose: keeping our promise to America’s veterans. DAV does this by ensuring that veterans and their families can access the full range of benefits available to them, fighting for the interests of America’s injured heroes on Capitol Hill, providing employment resources to veterans and their families, and educating the public about the great sacrifices and needs of veterans transitioning back to civilian life. DAV, a nonprofit organization with more than 1 million members, was founded in 1920 and chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1932.
