DAV provides many resources for leaders looking to improve the productivity of chapter meetings and ways to interact with prospective members and the public positively.

The ‘Member Resources’ section of dav.org is where member leaders can learn how to best represent DAV. And you don’t need any special access to see all of this. It’s all there at your fingertips.

Let’s start with the DAV Language Guide, which offers ways for you to elevate your talking points to quickly promote DAV’s message and positive impact.

The guide’s overview of DAV’s life-changing services and advocacy efforts for veterans offers you consistent, and easy-to-remember messages for when someone asks what DAV does. It’s helpful when you need to convey DAV’s organizational role, and includes an array of DAV public service announcements showcasing the powerful stories of real veterans who have achieved personal victories.

There is also guidance for having productive conversations with potential members, volunteers, recently-discharged veterans and prospective donors in the downloadable document. The guide offers a 30-second elevator speech for when you have very little of someone’s time, and more expansive messaging for when you already have someone’s attention.

The DAV Identity Brochure and identity video are more tools to show how we support victories for veterans.

The video is a 3-minute introduction to DAV’s mission and the myriad ways we serve all of America’s ill and injured veterans. Share this online, or with a prospective member when you struggle to find the words to convey what DAV is all about.

Consider your chapter meetings as a chance to highlight details in the brochure, and ways individual members can support our advocacy efforts, the employment and the volunteerism.

With annual financial reports due soon, there is also a kit with detailed instructions, which can be found in the ‘Member Leaders’ area. This area is where you will find memos and other key communications.

Don’t let this set of resources be an underutilized tool in your playbook. Sharpen your knowledge, and equip yourself with what the national membership department has created to assist you in promoting DAV’s critical mission and serving ill and injured veterans and their families.
