April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. To every survivor: we see you, we believe you, and we will keep pushing for the care and recognition you deserve. This month is a time to stand with survivors and reaffirm that support, dignity and justice matter. Many veterans live with the mental, physical and emotional effects of military sexual trauma (MST) long after the uniform comes off. No one should have to face that alone.
DAV advocates every day to ensure MST survivors have access to the VA health care, disability benefits and specialized services they’ve earned. We fight for trauma-informed care, improved claims processes and policies that remove barriers to reporting and treatment. We also provide free assistance to help veterans navigate the benefits system with compassion and confidentiality. You can contact a DAV service officer at benefitsquestions.org for free assistance.
