When Gigi Theocharides first heard about ketamine therapy, she was afraid. “I told them right away, ‘I don’t want to see God,’” she said. Like many veterans, Gigi associated the drug with loss of control, addiction or dangerous hallucinations. What she found instead was something she had not experienced in years: calm and the ability to confront trauma without being consumed by it. Rather than a cure-all, ketamine was a turning point.
