Last October, I had the privilege of leading our latest cohort of DAV Patriot Boot Camp for founders in the military and veteran community, including spouses. It was my first time hosting the three-day boot camp since becoming program director and the energy and transformation that took place were nothing short of inspiring.     `

We welcomed 45 founders from across the country to DAV National Headquarters, all of them eager to learn how to grow their businesses alongside like-minded, mission-driven veterans and spouses. Participants spent hours learning from the best about everything from business development to AI for founders. They practiced and perfected their elevator pitches. They also had multiple networking opportunities. Click here to view the photo album from the event.

We had 46 business leaders and successful founders generously volunteer over 180 total hours of mentorship during the cohort. They packed the room for back-to-back sessions of one-on-one mentoring, fueling the energy these founders brought. You can meet some of our dedicated mentors by clicking here.

The transformation could best be witnessed on the last day during a live pitch contest. Ten participants were selected to compete in front of their peers, a panel of experts and a live digital audience. Viewers voted for the top three winners who walked away with thousands of dollars in non-dilutive funding. Click here to watch the recording.

What’s even more exciting is that we get to do this all over again. In February, we’re headed to Myrtle Beach for another three transformative days. Thank you to all who have supported DAV Patriot Boot Camp over the years, including our volunteers and mentors, program sponsors and the DAV members who have helped spread the word about the work we’re doing. We firmly believe that entrepreneurship offers an opportunity to empower veterans and their families to lead fulfilling lives after service, and ultimately strengthens industries and communities.

Now, let’s build!

P.S. – Do you know someone who employs and supports veterans in the workplace? Encourage them to apply to be a DAV Patriot Employer at patriotemployer.org. Applications are open year-round, but the deadline to be considered for DAV’s annual employer awards is Feb. 28.
