ERLANGER, Ky. – DAV (Disabled American Veterans) has named Artemis ARC its Small Employer of the Year. A Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, Artemis is a government consulting firm based in Alexandria, Virginia. Company representatives will receive the award Aug. 10 during the 2025 DAV and Auxiliary National Convention in Las Vegas.

The national-level honor recognizes Artemis Arc as a leader in veteran hiring among numerous other businesses with fewer than 250 employees. As 75% of the company’s contracts are with the Department of Veterans Affairs, Artemis seeks to continually improve its veteran hiring and retention strategies. Currently, its workforce comprises 14% veteran employees, with plans to increase to 15% veteran employees in the coming year.

To enhance veteran hiring and retention strategies, Artemis developed the Veteran Experience Council—over 400 veterans who act as advisers by conducting surveys, providing feedback and helping shape company initiatives regarding veterans.

Programs created for veterans include a no-cost, virtual training and certifications program in high-demand fields; a mentorship program that pairs new employees with experienced ones; and flexible work arrangements to accommodate military training, medical appointments and transition-related needs.

“Artemis ARC has a proven track record of commitment to the veteran community through impressive support programs and partnerships,” said DAV National Commander Daniel Contreras. “This company shines a bright light on how a small business can have a large impact on veterans’ lives and well-being.”
