ERLANGER, Ky. – DAV (Disabled American Veterans) has selected Army veteran Eric Brown as the 2023 Local Veterans Employment Representative (LVER) of the Year. Brown, of DeSoto, Texas, will be formally recognized Aug. 6 during the 2023 DAV and Auxiliary National Convention in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Brown is an LVER for the Texas Veterans Commission, where he has worked for the past three years. In addition to educating and assisting employers and finding veterans meaningful jobs, Brown is an invaluable mentor to his colleagues.

“Eric demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to his employers and to the veteran community,” said LVER District Coach Tracy Griffard, who nominated Brown for the award. “His hard work and skillful collaboration have delivered outstanding results. He is not only committed to helping employers and veterans attain their employment goals, but he has genuine concern for their well-being, because he’s been in their position.”

Brown is also active in the community, serving as a mentor for a local fraternity to help develop current and future leaders. He is working on developing a scholarship for student veterans.

“Eric is an enormous asset to Dallas-area veterans and to the larger community,” said DAV National Employment Director Ryan Burgos. “His work is critical in our mission to educate employers on the value of veterans and to connect veterans with purpose-driven jobs. We are proud to recognize his efforts with this award.”

About DAV
DAV empowers veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity. It is dedicated to a single purpose: keeping our promise to America’s veterans. DAV does this by ensuring that veterans and their families can access the full range of benefits available to them, fighting for the interests of America’s injured heroes on Capitol Hill, providing employment resources to veterans and their families, and educating the public about the great sacrifices and needs of veterans transitioning back to civilian life. DAV, a nonprofit organization with more than 1 million members, was founded in 1920 and chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1932.
