DAV Chapter 30 in Mountain Home, Arkansas, hosted its 19th Annual veterans appreciation picnic to connect isolated veterans with care. Community donors and organizations like Good Samaritan Society supported this effort, which quickly outgrew its venue. With ASU Mountain Home Campus providing a larger venue, the annual event grew to assist over 800 veterans. This successful model has since gained national recognition, leading to state and national replication efforts.
We are proud of the hard work and volunteerism of the chapters and departments in our communities. Whether it’s a disaster relief effort, a local fundraiser or even an inspiring story about a DAV member, we want to share it!
If you have a story to share about a department or chapter that is going above and beyond in your community, send it to: [email protected].

H.R. 4509, the NOPAIN for Veterans Act, would expand access to safe, non-opioid pain management options within the VA health care system. Please contact your elected officials and urge them to cosponsor and support this important legislation now: dav.la/hr4509.
This bill would require VA to include Food FDA-approved non-opioid medications and biological products in its national formulary, ensuring veterans have access to effective and less addictive alternatives for treating pain.
By expanding access to nonaddictive treatments, the bill seeks to reduce dependency, improve long-term pain outcomes and enhance the quality of life for service-disabled veterans living with chronic pain. #DAV #veterans #military #DAVCAN
