COLD SPRING, Ky. — DAV (Disabled American Veterans) will recognize William J. Baker, of DAV Chapter 9 in Enterprise, Alabama, as the Membership Recruiter of the Year.
The honor highlights Baker’s efforts to serve his fellow veterans and ensure DAV’s strength as a strong advocate for ill and injured veterans.
Baker, who recruited 121 new veterans into DAV Department of Alabama during the past membership year, will be presented the DAV Recruiter of the Year award by National Commander Moses A. McIntosh Jr. Aug. 1 at DAV’s 95th National Convention at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Atlanta.
“William has made his chapter one of the largest within his state,” said DAV National Membership Director Doug Wells. “He made a concerted effort to find veterans eligible for membership and get them involved in our continuing mission of service and advocacy for fellow veterans and their families.”
DAV’s National Adjutant Marc Burgess said leadership like Baker’s has a direct impact on the 1.3 million-member organization, which has grown as other established veterans service organizations have declined in membership.
“DAV’s membership remains strong because of members like William,” Burgess said. “His passion for fellow veterans knows no limits.
“He proudly served his country in the Army, and has only continued and grew his legacy of service by showcasing the many services DAV offers veterans,” Burgess said. “I’m proud to be part of an organization that has members like him.”
