On March 5, the Department of Veterans Affairs began modernizing its online experience to simplify sign-in options for veterans and continue to protect their identity and benefits.

The first significant change was the removal of the My HealtheVet option to sign in to all VA websites and apps. The DS Logon option will be removed after Sept. 30. Veterans can still access the My HealtheVet portal—they just need to sign in using a Login.gov or ID.me account.

Login.gov is the government’s account provider for VA and other government benefits and services. ID.me is a nongovernment account provider that contracts with government and nongovernment organizations to verify a veteran’s identity.
