From Sept. 6–10, the Riverside Hotel & Golf Resort in Riverside, Iowa, will once again become the epicenter for adaptive sports as the National Disabled Veterans Golf Clinic returns.
Veterans with blindness or low vision, traumatic brain injuries, amputations, spinal cord injuries, and other disabilities will experience the therapeutic benefits of golf and other athletic activities such as kayaking, biking and rock climbing during the weeklong event.
Dozens of coaches and hundreds of volunteers will ensure each participant has an experience tailored to their needs. The resource-rich program fosters opportunities for fellowship and camaraderie among the veterans—both returning participants and those discovering the benefits of adaptive sports for the first time. #adaptivesports #veterans #DAV Adaptive Sports and Arts - U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

VA News: The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced in August that eligible veterans can now submit and track mileage-only travel claims directly from a smartphone or mobile device through the VA: Health and Benefits mobile app. This new feature streamlines the reimbursement process, potentially reducing the number of paper claims and the time it takes to process them.
The app automatically identifies when a veteran’s VA appointment may be eligible for mileage reimbursement and displays a prompt on the home screen, allowing for quick submission with just a few clicks.
To be eligible for this and other health care travel reimbursements, veterans must meet certain criteria, such as traveling for treatment of a service-connected condition; receiving a VA pension; having an income below the maximum annual VA pension rate; being unable to afford travel; or traveling to attend a scheduled VA claim exam, get a service dog or receive VA-approved transplant care.
For more information about the app and its features, including where to download it, scan the code or visit the official VA mobile page at mobile.va.gov/app/va-health-and-benefits.
