DAV (Disabled American Veterans) has named Keith Pelusi of DeSoto, Texas, as its top membership recruiter for 2021. DAV National Commander Stephen “Butch” Whitehead will recognize Pelusi as DAV’s Top Membership Recruiter of the Year award at the 99th DAV and Auxiliary National Convention, Aug. 1 in Tampa Bay, Florida.

The award recognizes Pelusi’s dedication and commitment to injured and ill veterans and their families, even in the face of a once-in-a-century pandemic, by recruiting 118 new DAV members over the last year.

“Keith’s enthusiasm to invite his fellow disabled veterans into DAV shows his strong sense of character and is an example of the camaraderie in the veteran community,” Whitehead said. “As a direct result of his efforts, 118 individuals are now a part of an organization that empowers veterans—from all eras—to lead lives with respect and dignity.”

Pelusi, a service-disabled veteran of Vietnam, retired from the Army in 1996 after 20 years of service. He has been a member of DAV Chapter 57 in Dallas, Texas, for five years.

“We could not serve America’s veterans and their families as effectively as we do without the full-force of our more than 1 million members,” said Whitehead. “Keith’s efforts help to ensure DAV will continue to be a leading voice in veterans service.”

About DAV:
DAV empowers veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity. It is dedicated to a single purpose: keeping our promise to America’s veterans. DAV does this by ensuring that veterans and their families can access the full range of benefits available to them, fighting for the interests of America’s injured heroes on Capitol Hill, providing employment resources to veterans and their families, and educating the public about the great sacrifices and needs of veterans transitioning back to civilian life. DAV, a nonprofit organization with more than 1 million veteran members, was founded in 1920 and chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1932.
