DAV (Disabled American Veterans) has named Keith Pelusi, of DeSoto, Texas, as its top membership recruiter for 2020. Pelusi will be formally recognized during the DAV & Auxiliary Virtual Salute, a program scheduled for Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. Eastern time at www.dav.org/virtualsalute.

The award recognizes Pelusi’s dedication and commitment to injured and ill veterans and their families by recruiting 102 new DAV members over the last year. This is the second straight year that he has taken home the award. Over the last two years, Keith has helped welcome nearly 200 of his fellow veterans into DAV.

“Keith’s willingness to invite his fellow disabled veterans into the organization shows his strong sense of character and is an example of the importance of camaraderie in the veteran community,” said DAV National Commander Stephen “Butch” Whitehead. “Because of his efforts in the last year alone, over 100 individuals are now a part of an organization that empowers veterans—from all eras—to lead lives with respect and dignity.”

Pelusi, a service-disabled veteran of Vietnam, retired from the Army in 1996 after 20 years of service. He has been a member of DAV Chapter 57 in Dallas for the last four years.

“We could not serve America’s veterans and their families as effectively as we do without the full force of our more than 1 million members,” said Whitehead. “They are the lifeblood of our organization, and Keith’s efforts help to ensure DAV will continue to be a leading voice in veterans service for the next century.”

About DAV:
DAV empowers veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity. It is dedicated to a single purpose: fulfilling our promises to the men and women who served. DAV does this by ensuring that veterans and their families can access the full range of benefits available to them, fighting for the interests of America’s injured heroes on Capitol Hill, providing employment resources to veterans and their families, and educating the public about the great sacrifices and needs of veterans transitioning back to civilian life. DAV, a nonprofit organization with more than 1 million veteran members, was founded in 1920 and chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1932. Learn more at www.dav.org.
