We talk about social media today as though it has always been a part of America’s culture, but in reality we are just scratching the surface of the potential platforms like Facebook and Twitter have to influence the direction of our national conversation.

DAV has set a goal to unify Facebook profiles across the chapters and departments, and to coordinate and amplify our voice across the nation.

The benefits of a unified social media presence across all national, state and chapter profiles is incalculable and no veterans service organization has been able to accomplish that mission to date. DAV has the ability to unify its voice, and we need your help.

We have the ability to help set the tone across the nation if we embrace this powerful tool together. We can influence the conversation among all veterans and lead policymakers, the Department of Veterans Affairs and even the presidential administration to sensible solutions regarding veterans issues.

Imagine DAV being the loudest veterans voice in the nation. It’s not just our 1.3 million members leading the charge with one voice, but millions seeing our content on Facebook and Twitter all because we shared the same message, all at the same time. That’s how we make a powerful impact.

Leadership is defined as the ability to influence. With a unified voice we have the ability to be a tremendous influence in the VSO community.

To accomplish this exciting opportunity and use our voice to accomplish our goals at every level, this is what we need from you:

  1. Identify those chapters and departments with active Facebook pages.
  2. Coordinate with all social media admins to effectively brand all the pages in order to make DAV a familiar and recognizable social media brand.
    • Branded chapter and department logos are available to page admins.
  3. Use the “DAV Department and Chapter Admin Group” to effectively coordinate messaging across our organization and speak with one voice.
    • By coordinating this way, we can more effectively engage with local media resources as well, further amplifying our voice.

We’ve all heard the expression “One Team, One Fight” and that is exactly what we want to accomplish through our social media platforms. We all want DAV to be the leading veteran voice across the country and we can do this by coming together in a cohesive way.

By executing the three steps above, DAV can increase its effectiveness as a thought leader on social media and drive the national discussion as it relates to veteran healthcare, VA and benefits for veterans. With your help, we can come together as one social media team and be the first VSO to unite and coordinate all of its department and chapter social media pages to speak with one voice!
