For the 14th year, DAV-supported program Camp Corral will return this summer to bring joy, fun and support to the children of those who served and sacrificed. From June through August, Camp Corral will host 23 weeklong summer camps across the country for children ages 8 to 15 who have a parent who is a disabled veteran or who died in service.
DAV proudly champions Camp Corral’s mission to empower children who share in the sacrifices of military service. Through DAV’s Just B Kids scholarship program, over 7,700 children of ill, injured or fallen veterans and service members have attended Camp Corral programs at no cost to their families. This special camp gives children the chance to “Just B Kids” while making friends, learning coping skills and creating memories that last a lifetime.
“We began our partnership with Camp Corral to help expand this incredible program supporting veterans and their families,” said DAV National Adjutant Barry Jesinoski. “Children of disabled or fallen veterans face unique challenges and sacrifices due to their parent’s service. We’re grateful for Camp Corral’s dedication to providing children from across the country the joy of a week away at camp.”
As a national leader in educational resources, research and advocacy related to the challenges faced by wounded, ill and fallen military service members’ children—many of whom take on caregiving roles within their families—Camp Corral partners with DAV to build life skills, resilience and independence.
