Delivering the promise
DAV is an organization of veterans helping veterans.
The reasons are as individual as our members. Some join for the fellowship at our more than 1,200 local chapters. Some for the inspiring national events. Others for opportunities to serve their fellow veterans and their families. And many join to continue the fight to support the rights and benefits of all veterans. DAV understands the needs of veterans because we are veterans—1 million strong. We invite you to join our cause.

DAV member and retired Air Force Staff Sgt. Stacy Pearsall is the host of PBS After Action, a show that spotlights veterans' stories. In the latest episode, Pearsall sits down with three women veterans who know what it’s like to feel invisible. Watch here: www.pbs.org/video/invisible-veteran-iy5jr6/ Like Pearsall, DAV is committed to making sure women veterans are seen and heard. Find our latest women veterans report at womenveterans.org.
DAV supports H.R. 3303, the Maternal Health for Veterans Act. This bill would help improve services and maternal health outcomes for the fastest-growing cohort of veterans using VA health care—women veterans. Currently, there are 650,000 women veterans using VA medical care with half of them being childbearing age. Since 2014, VA has seen an 80% increase in maternity care services.H.R. 3303 aims to strengthen VA oversight and improve the maternal health outcomes of veterans, with a particular focus on veterans with elevated rates of maternal mortality, severe maternal morbidity, maternal health disparities, or other adverse perinatal or childbirth outcomes. We ask that DAV members and supports contact their representatives and urge them to co-sponsor and support H.R. 3303, the Maternal Health for Veterans Act. Take action now! dav.la/hr3303. #veterans #DAVCAN #DAV
A memorial page is a special place where you and your loved ones can honor and memorialize a veteran in your life. It provides a platform to pay tribute to their memory and also offers the opportunity for others to make online donations in support of other brave individuals who have served.
Until May 14, 1942, women were only allowed to enlist for noncombat duties in the military. Following the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, Congress created the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps, allowing women to take on a greater role in the military. The WAAC was established “For the purpose of making available to the national defense the knowledge, skill and special training of women of the nation.”
