DAV supports H.R. 3303, the Maternal Health for Veterans Act. This bill would help improve services and maternal health outcomes for the fastest-growing cohort of veterans using VA health care—women veterans. Currently, there are 650,000 women veterans using VA medical care with half of them being childbearing age. Since 2014, VA has seen an 80% increase in maternity care services.H.R. 3303 aims to strengthen VA oversight and improve the maternal health outcomes of veterans, with a particular focus on veterans with elevated rates of maternal mortality, severe maternal morbidity, maternal health disparities, or other adverse perinatal or childbirth outcomes. We ask that DAV members and supports contact their representatives and urge them to co-sponsor and support H.R. 3303, the Maternal Health for Veterans Act.
