If I told you the secret to helping more veterans was already at your fingertips, I’d expect you to want to know more. Fortunately, I’ve got you covered.

What you need to tell your members: Our new online portal, mydav.org, is where you need to be to make a difference for veterans at the local, state and national level. DAV department administrative staff members can assist chapters with all their needs, from filing financial and officer election reports to supply order forms. The time for sending paperwork in is in the past. This is how we can share critical information to make our organization more efficient at delivering services to our fellow veterans.

Take action: Register at mydav.org. I can’t stress that enough. This is for every member and gives you access to your DAV record, as well as the ability to request new membership cards and manage and make payments. Chapter and department officers have the ability to do more with mydav.org based on their roles.

Learn more: Department commanders, adjutants and administrative staff from around the country spent two days in October learning how to use mydav.org at DAV National Headquarters in Erlanger, Kentucky. The training covered all facets of mydav.org, making attendees specialists in how to navigate the new tool. If you don’t know your department administrative staff, get to know them. They are there to help you be successful.

The switch over to mydav.org started a few months ago with the filing of officer election reports. For instance, when an officer election report is sent in, email notifications will automatically be sent to department and chapter line officers, as well as the adjutant, treasurer and officer authorized to receive mail. And you can count on the new online portal expanding to be the place for handling all kinds of DAV business.

Why it matters: Mydav.org is a resource many don’t understand is at their disposal, said Adam Greathouse, commander of the DAV Department of West Virginia.

“It speeds everything up and leads to changing a veteran’s life,” Greathouse said.
