Travel discounts for veterans
Department of New York 2nd Junior Vice Commander Shannon Sander was able to save on her trip to Las Vegas.

DAV membership has many advantages, but one of the newest perks is already helping save members money on a multitude of travel, dining and service experiences.

The DAV MyDeals app helped Shannon Sander, 2nd junior vice commander for the Department of New York, take a cross-country driving trip for a women veteran’s conference. Using her DAV Member Advantages, she scored rental car and hotel deals from Rochester, New York, to Las Vegas, Nevada. Sander said she is always using the MyDeals app to help the family budget.

“It’s one of the nicest things to keep up on different benefits and saving money,” Sander said.

Check the website dav.enjoymydeals.com for deals on well-known brands and also local brands to eat, play, shop or travel.

“At a time when prices are going up on many things, DAV is thrilled our members can find price breaks to help keep money in their pockets through Member Advantages,” said National Commander Andy Marshall.

Through DAV’s Member Advantages program, some well-known brands, such as northAmerican Van Lines, can help cover a big move.

Among the rotating lineup of other Member Advantages, deals have included discounts at major theme parks and attractions, vacation destinations and popular restaurants.

“Veterans and their families get money-saving advantages by being part of DAV’s more than 1 million members,” said National Membership Director Douglas Wells. “By joining, you also add your voice to create a strong chorus on Capitol Hill and you support your fellow veterans with direct support services from DAV and benefit claims assistance.”

Marine Corps veteran Norman Di Cataldo, of Rhode Island, used Member Advantages for a fun getaway with his fiancé to Vermont.

“We saw a little bit of the sights, it’s just a beautiful part of the country,” Di Cataldo said.

The couple enjoyed a nice meal and lodged at a local bed and breakfast, he said.

Veteran Rob Arens thought he would give Member Advantages a try, and it saved the Chicago man money on a trip with fellow DAV members to Las Vegas and the Hoover Dam.

“I thought, let me give it a shot. It saved a few bucks off compared to any other site,” Arens said.

“DAV members have already collectively saved hundreds of thousands of dollars through Member Advantages,” Wells said.

“There are always new deals available, so be sure to check back often,” said Wells. “Just type in your zip code and start enjoying the perks of your DAV membership.”
