On August 16, 2021, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) canceled the National Disabled Veterans Golf Clinic, which had been scheduled for September 12-17 in Riverside, Iowa, due to concerns for public health related to COVID-19 and the Delta variant.

This action was taken in consultation with local and national subject matter experts. It has been determined that the risks have elevated, and it will be difficult to maintain a safe environment. VA and DAV place the utmost value in the health and safety of the veterans, staff, volunteers, sponsors, caregivers and families that were planning to travel to Iowa. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to working with our volunteers and sponsors to return healthy and strong in 2022.

DAV National Commander Andy Marshall said the organization supports the VA’s decision and extends its heartfelt sympathies to the hundreds of veterans who won’t be able to participate in this year’s event.

“We are incredibly grateful to the community and our sponsors for their understanding in these unprecedented times,” said Marshall. “The safety of our veterans and all involved is our foremost concern. We and our partners at the VA look forward to working with our volunteers and sponsors to return healthy and strong in 2022.”
