TAMPA, Fla.—DAV (Disabled American Veterans) has named GeoStabilization International, a Colorado-based company that makes hiring veterans a part of its business strategy, its Midsize Employer of the Year. Representatives from GeoStabilization International will be formally recognized Aug. 1 during the 2021 DAV and Auxiliary National Convention in Tampa, Florida.

GeoStabilization Internationa’s veteran resource recruiting group consists of career planners who attend over 80 veteran recruiting events a year all over the United States. They participate in new-hire orientations and brief all transitioning service members and veterans on transitioning to the civilian sector and the challenges they may face. The company also offers coaching and mentoring to ensure veterans have a smooth transition. All of their mentors have over 26 years of counseling experience and have successfully completed the process themselves.

With 25% of their employees having served in the military, GeoStabiliztion International has exceeded its own goals of hiring veterans.

“We believe that a veteran’s knowledge and skill set do not expire once they complete their service,” said GeoStabilization International CEO Colby Barrett. “[Veterans] are an asset to our company and core values. Our motto, ‘Work Hard or Go Home,’ is not just a catchphrase; it is a way of life that we believe every service member relates to.”

“It is a part of GeoStabilization International’s overall business plan to recruit and hire veterans, because their ownership uniquely understands the talents they bring to the workforce,” said DAV National Commander Stephen “Butch” Whitehead. “I am thankful for not only their efforts in hiring veterans but their willingness to work outside of the organization to improve the lives of our nation’s heroes in their home state of Colorado and nationwide.”
