DAV is pleased with the quick Senate confirmation of Robert Wilkie to serve as the tenth Secretary of Veterans Affairs. It is critical for veterans to have consistent leadership among the ranks of VA, and we believe Mr. Wilkie will utilize his experience both as acting secretary and as a veteran to carry out sensible reforms that enable VA to deliver high-quality, timely health care and benefits services to the men and women who served. Since March, the former acting secretary—like his predecessors—has worked alongside veteran service organizations to better understand the needs facing our nation’s heroes, yielding positive reforms and modernization. DAV and others in the VSO community look forward to closely working with the future secretary to continue strengthening VA so that it may serve veterans for generations to come.
