DAV National Commander Rob Reynolds has been an avid Harley rider for nearly three decades.

To the partially paralyzed Army veteran, riding has always represented the freedom Americans have fought to preserve.

As a lifelong fan of Harley and a longtime leader in the DAV, Commander Reynolds was on hand when the Harley-Davidson Foundation announced its $1 million donation to help the DAV expand its outreach to veterans nationwide. From the start of the Harley’s Heroes™ program, the Commander has been on board; encouraging veterans at different events to utilize the DAV’s free services.

To further his support of the program, he decided in 2007 to create the “Harley’s Heroes™ Tribute Bike” by customizing his 2006 Harley Street Glide (FLHXI) in honor of the DAV’s partnership with the Harley-Davidson Foundation.

The motorcycle was adjusted with an automatic pneumatic air suspension and customized seat to add support based on the commander’s service-connected disabilities.

From there, it was given a patriotic paint job by Copperhead Graphics to recognize the service and sacrifices of men and women who’ve served.

He enlisted the help of his local Harley-Davidson of Washington, DC dealership who donated the man-hours to make this commemorative cycle a reality.

He’s traveling cross-country, making stops at dealerships along the way, to remind Americans that freedom isn’t free and to encourage his fellow veterans to take advantage of the services the DAV offers.
