Disabled veterans need to know about all the services that are available to them free of charge from the DAV. Because those who believe in the DAV’s mission can do much to help us reach out to veterans who need the DAV’s help, our larger programs are listed below as a public service.

Please look at the list that follows and tell us if you or someone you know could use information on any of these DAV service programs. And, if you don’t need this information now, please keep this form handy for future reference.

The DAV’s National Service Program stations professional veteran’s benefits experts in 110 offices across the United States and Puerto Rico. These National Service Officers (NSOs) provide a multitude of free services to veterans and their families. They assist clients in filing claims for VA compensation, pension and death benefits and many other programs. As one indication that there are many veterans who still need the DAV's help, DAV NSOs represented nearly 250,000 veterans and their families to help secure benefits last year alone.

The DAV Transportation Network provides sick and disabled veterans with transportation to and from VA hospitals and clinics across the nation. Last year alone, our volunteers worked 1.8 million hours and drove more than 22.3 million miles, providing 595,718 rides. If you're interested in this program, we'll send information along to you if:

you or a veteran you know needs transportation to a VA medical facility,
or you want to volunteer as a driver.

The DAV’s Voluntary Service Program resulted in donation of 349,342 hours of volunteer work to patients in VA hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics last year. Another million hours were contributed to veterans in non-VA medical facilities. If you know a vet who needs contact from the world outside the hospital walls, let us know, and we'll send you a roster of Voluntary Service Representatives at VA Medical facilities.

The DAV Transition Service Program is for those service members making the all-important transition back into civilian life, DAV participates in Transition Assistance and Disabled Transition Assistance programs. Our Transition Service Officers (TSOs) provide benefits counseling and assistance to service members filing initial claims for benefits in over 100 military institutions.

The DAV Mobile Service Office (MSO) Program places our National Service Officers on the road, assisting veterans where they live and increasing accessibility to benefits. Our MSOs visit communities across the country, traveling more than 114,056 miles, visiting 727 cities, last year alone.
